Scottish dancing is good for mind, body and soul!

Is it the same as Ceilidh Dancing?

Ceilidh dancing is the simplest form of Scottish Country Dancing that anyone can do with the guidance of a caller. Our form of Scottish Country Dancing involves learning a bit of technique but like Ceilidhs it is great fun. We learn how to perform the basic steps, we also learn the common formations that make up the dances. Classes are an opportunity to improve our technique and knowledge of formations and dances.

Do I need special dancing shoes?

All you need to start dancing is a pair of soft shoes. If you enjoy classes you may want to buy a pair of dancing shoes and our teacher can provide information on what type of shoes to buy. Some people wear ballet shoes others have bought Scottish Country Dance shoes and there is a wide variety of different styles available. We have links to some dance shoe suppliers on our Links page.
